Species Overview

Size: Adult Leopard Geckos generally reach 8–10 inches (20–25 cm). They are medium-sized, hardy reptiles well adapted to warm, arid habitats.

Appearance: The Tremper Sunglow morph combines the warm pastel tones of the Tremper Albino line with the reduced-spotting clarity of the Hypo/Super Hypo trait. Tremper Albino removes black pigment, producing gentle yellows, soft pinks, and creamy oranges. The Hypo or Super Hypo influence minimizes or eliminates dark body spots, allowing a cleaner and brighter overall appearance. Together, these traits create a Leopard Gecko with smooth, warm colouration—often orange or peach-toned—with very little pattern and a polished, glowing finish that intensifies with age.

Distribution: Leopard Geckos are native to Pakistan, Afghanistan, northwestern India, and Iran.

Habitat: In the wild, they inhabit rocky deserts and scrublands, using burrows to avoid extreme daytime heat. In captivity, they thrive in warm, semi-arid environments with secure hides and a stable temperature gradient.

Behaviour: Leopard Geckos are calm, nocturnal, and tolerant of handling. They display natural behaviours such as burrowing, nighttime exploring, and actively hunting insects.

Captive Care

Enclosure: Provide a terrestrial enclosure of at least 24 inches × 18 inches × 12 inches (60 × 45 × 30 cm). Include warm, cool, and humid hides. A sandy soil or clay-based naturalistic substrate supports natural digging behaviour.

Temperature & Humidity: Maintain a warm side at 88–92°F (31–33°C) and a cool side around 75–80°F (24–27°C). Night temperatures may drop to 70–74°F (21–23°C). Keep humidity around 30–40%, with a humid hide elevated to 60–70% to aid shedding. Use a thermostat to control heating.

Lighting: Albino morphs may be more sensitive to bright lighting. Provide low-level UVB (2–5%) and make sure shaded areas are available. Maintain a regular 12-hour day/night cycle.

Diet: Offer gut-loaded insects such as roaches, crickets, mealworms, and silkworms. Adults eat every other day; juveniles daily. Dust all prey with calcium and multivitamins. Fresh water should always be available.

Behaviour in Captivity: Leopard Geckos are hardy and long-lived, often reaching 15–20 years or more. Tremper Sunglows thrive under consistent care routines and are reliable feeders.

Special Considerations: Colour intensity and clarity vary with lineage. Albino-line animals may require careful light exposure due to increased sensitivity.
